Also published in a magazine this month is Star Bright. I’m afraid this post is light on photos because I only barely finished this quilt in time for my deadline and didn’t have a chance to get a nice picture, so these are all stolen from AQS. (But they did such a nice job photographing it that I really can’t compete. How great is that celestially inspired styling?)
If you’ve read my book, you might recognize this design from the chapter on setting blocks in rows, where I talk all about how to design a quilt like this!
This quilt is made with easy paper pieced blocks. I found that the most tedious part of putting them together was ripping away all the papers at the end!
The fabrics are American Made Brand solids by Clothworks, and I’m so pleased with how well the colors matched my original vision for the quilt. AQS is offering a kit for the quilt, and if you’re headed to any of their shows later this fall, stop by the booth for a chance to get a glimpse at the quilt itself!
I quilted the background (negative space!) with navy swirls, and then used a combination of ruler work and free motion quilting in the blocks themselves.
I was excited to find that my book got a shout-out in the “Fabulous Finds” section, too!
