I’m excited to release a new paper pieced mini quilt pattern, Ocean Ponies! This time, I’m drawing on my roots as a marine scientist and featuring seahorses. I used mine and my husband’s favorite colors for the two seahorses—I think a mini like this would make a great wedding gift for a beach-loving couple!
There’s more, though: as usual, my paper pieced mini quilt patterns include more than one block, but this time, instead of giving you three different sizes, I thought I’d change things up a bit. Since the main pattern is a seahorse couple, the extras this time are single and baby seahorses so that you can make your family, however it might look. Here are some examples of how you could lay things out!
The singles and babies are included in both left- and right-facing versions, giving you lots of options.
Above is the baby seahorse—if you’re wondering about the background fabric, it was one I made during the screenprinting class I took with Karen Lewis at QuiltCon a couple of years ago. The critters are copepods, which are a kind of tiny aquatic animal that provides food for bigger critters like seahorses and other fish.
Ocean Ponies is available as both a paper pattern (which includes download codes for the single and baby seahorses) and a PDF version (all blocks are included in the PDF).
