The second pattern that’s new this week is Zigzag Fade. This pattern was featured in Modern Quilts Unlimited a couple of years back. Unfortunately, the magazine is now shuttered, and back issues are no longer available, so it was high time I re-formatted and re-released it!
(I know several of you are looking for other patterns in a similar situation—please know that I am working on them! With a 10-month-old, everything seems to be taking a lot longer than it used to these days!)
This quilt is pretty minimalist—just three sizes of squares in three different solids, set on point in a zigzag pattern. All the negative space means there’s room for your quilting to shine. This photo shows the quilting in progress—I did some crazy matchstick quilting in there, but it would look just as great if you just stick to the echoing zigzags.
When a design goes right up to the edge of the quilt , as some of the squares here do, I find that it looks best not to create a border with my binding, so this quilt is finished with a facing. The pattern includes the instructions for finishing your quilt like this, creating a borderless quilt!
For the time being, this pattern is available only in PDF format—find it here (EU customers please use this link)!
