The Rainbow Arrows pattern is available in the Flying Parrot Quilts shop!
The pattern for a table runner featuring this block was published in the 2019 edition of the Quilter’s Planner (see below). I’m happy to be releasing an updated version of the Rainbow Arrows pattern, which features more sizes!
The original pattern included the table runner as well as an alternate setting of the four blocks for a table topper. It’s actually made of two sets of two different blocks with the colors of the arrows in different positions. Because of that it makes for some really interesting color flow between the blocks when they’re set in multiple rows. So from the beginning I knew I’d eventually have to make another quilt-size version. The updated pattern includes a total of six(!) sizes, from the table runner all the way up to queen size. This is the lap-size version:
For this quilt, I used batiks from Island Batik’s Ancient Etchings line by Jackie Kunkel of Canton Village Quilt Works. This is such fun fabric—I particularly like the llama print! I used to work with batiks all the time, but sort of got away from it for a while, so this is the first time in a while I’ve made something with them. It shows that modern quilts work perfectly well in batik fabrics, no matter what the Quilt Police say!
I quilted this one with an all-over swirly design, but someday I may have to make another and quilt it as elaborately as I did the original table runner!
The Rainbow Arrows quilt pattern is available in printed booklet and PDF formats, if you’d like to make one of your own!
